A supercomputer determines the Premier League matchup schedule. The first step is to divide the 20 teams up into a “pairing grid,” which determines which teams play where and when. The final fixture list is generated fairly and randomly thanks to this approach.
Each side is given a maximum of three home matches and two away matches within each set of games, or the opposite. The idea is to prevent any side from playing three straight league games at home or away.
