BTS’ RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are gearing up to commence their mandatory military service in the coming days. Joining their bandmates J-Hope, Suga, and Jin, who have already fulfilled their service obligations. The exact enlistment date for the musicians has not yet been officially provided.
Jin initiated his service last year, while J-Hope and Suga enlisted earlier this year. Despite the absence of a specific enlistment date, BIGHIT Music’s latest update outlines the current procedural schedule.
In a statement shared on Weverse, the agency expressed gratitude to BTS fans. And provided additional details about RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook’s military enlistment. The quartet will serve as active-duty soldiers in the Army, with RM and V enlisting individually through their respective procedures. And Jimin and Jungkook simultaneously enlisting.
BIGHIT clarified that there would be no separate official event at the recruit training centre on the day of their entry. Instead, they requested fans to offer warm send-offs and encouragement.
Notably, Suga is the sole BTS member to have opted to serve as a social service agent due to shoulder surgery in 2020. In South Korea, all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 are obligated to serve for two years.
Jimin and Jungkook to enlist together; V to join Special Task Force
In November, BIGHIT MUSIC announced the initiation of the military enlistment process for RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Subsequently, it was reported on November 30 that V had applied to join the Special Task Force. The Special Task Force of the Capital Defence Command, responsible for various military police operations.
Preceding their enlistment, the four idols engaged in a special Weverse interaction with fans, enjoying a candid pizza night together. Jungkook expressed a desire to join V in the special forces but couldn’t due to his tattoos, as revealed by Jimin.
Jungkook and Jimin are scheduled to join the military together through the Companion Soldiers program. The program involves training at the same basic training centre shared with Jin. Following basic training, they will continue their service in parallel living units on the base. Ultimately completing their military duty simultaneously.
RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook reassured fans of their imminent return, with Jin filling the void. Jin is set to discharge on June 12, 2024. The Weverse live session served as a farewell until 2025. The members expressing a collective longing to reunite with their devoted fanbase, ARMY, and an eagerness to grace the stage together in 2025.
