The K-Pop sensation, World’s Biggest Boy Band, Grammy Nominated Group, BTS , elaborated as BANGTAN SONYEONDAN (Korean: 방탄소년단; Meaning: Bulletproof Boy Scouts) or Bangtan Boys is a South Korean boy band formed in the year 2010 and debuted on June 13 2013. BTS is a septet group with members: Kim Namjoon (RM), Kim Seokjin (Jin), Min Yoongi (Suga), Jung Hoseok (J-Hope), Park Jimin (Jimin), Kim Taehyung (V) and Jeon Jungkook (Jungkook).

Their genuine and respectful personalities have made them loved by millions of people worldwide. BTS usually produce and write most of their works. For a span of approximately 10 years from their debut, they have produced music in a large range of genres. Their inspirational lyrics mainly focuses on topics like mental health, self-love, troubles of youth, pain, growing up, pressures in the industry and the consequences of fame and recognition.

BTS has captivated the hearts of millions of fans globally. Their fandom is known as ARMY(Adorable Representative MC for Youth). BTS – ARMY are the World’s Largest and Powerful Fandom. Overall, BTS has come a long way and gone through a lot to be where they are right now. From going on streets in New York, asking people to come to their concert for free, to having concert tickets being sold out within minutes; From living in a really small dorm (where they could barely walk), to living in luxury apartment; From having under 500 fans; to having millions of fans. They really do deserve everything they have for their hard work and dedication.

BTS debuted in 2013 under the label Big Hit Entertainment (currently Hybe Corporation) owned by Bang Sihyuk(“Hitman” Bang) with the single album 2 Cool 4 Skool. BTS’ first Korean compilation album – The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever (2016) earned BTS their first Daesang award for Album of the Year at the 2016 Melon Music Awards and Artist of the Year at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards. Since then, BTS started gaining immense popularity in South Korea.
Despite early struggles and delayed popularity in South Korea, BTS’s international success was near. In 2018, BTS became the first non-English act in over a decade to top the Billboard 200. Over time, they have won 12 Billboard Music Awards, 11 American Music Awards, nominated 5 times at the Grammy awards, and broke multiple Guinness records. Their achievements have not only challenged the Western industry’s expectations of non-English acts, but have also helped confront stereotypes associated with East Asian musicians. Along with their global endeavors, BTS continues to thrive in the South Korean music industry — the group has now won 70 Daesangs (grand prizes),the most of any artist in the history of South Korean music and was the first act in history to win all of the Daesangs at both the 2019 Melon Music Awards and 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

In addition to these successes, the members of BTS continue to express their own ideas of universality. They make frequent donations to charities, participate in UNICEF campaigns to end violence against children, and promote lesser-known artists on social media. They were featured on Time’s international cover as “Next Generation Leaders”. BTS has also appeared on Time’s lists of the 25 most influential people on the internet (2017–2019) and the 100 most influential people in the world (2019). In 2018 BTS became the youngest recipients of the South Korean Order of Cultural Merit for their contributions in spreading the Korean culture and language. BTS had a press conference on 31 May, 2022 at The White House with the President of The United States, Joe Biden were BTS addressed the importance of raising awareness of anti-Asian hate crimes.
The members of the group have achieved immense success and wealth due to their exceptional skills in singing, dancing, and rapping. BTS’ net worth in 2023 was estimated to be between $120-150 million, prior to the IPO of HYBE Entertainment.

On June 14, during their ninth anniversary celebration, BTS shared that they would be taking a break to pursue solo projects and figure out their next steps as a band. Hybe Corporation, which owns Big Hit clarified in subsequent statements that BTS was neither disbanding nor going on hiatus, but would be actively furthering their individual careers with the label’s full support while still participating in group activities, including the filming of Run BTS(variety show were they play games and perform certain tasks).

Jin, the oldest member of the group enlisted for the mandatory military service on December 13,2022. J-Hope was the second member to enlist as an active-duty soldier on April 18,2023. RM, the leader of the group is expected to be the next member to enlist for the mandatory military service while Suga, the second oldest member is expected to serve as a social service agent due to his shoulder injury. As per the notice provided by Big hit Entertainment on Weverse, all the members are likely to complete their military service and are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025.
